One of the most recognizable faces and names in film journalism, Roger Ebert, has passed away on April 4th, 2013 at the age of 70. Ebert was a journalist at first and slid into the film critic spot at Chicago-Sun Times in the mid-sixties.

The Oscars have come and gone again, and I nearly matched my score from last year. I got either a 70% or a 68.75% this year for my Oscar predictions; the two scores are based on how you choose to calculate the rare tie in the Sound Editing category. Regardless, I am rather proud of my score.

In the past few years, I have gotten rather decent at picking Oscar winners. In 2011, I was second in an Oscar pool, and had an estimated 65% success rate in 2012.

The Short Film categories at the Oscars is usually the hardest categories to watch all of the nominees, despite it being a set of categories to watch that feature short films. Most of these films are difficult to find online, even in the days of YouTube and such.
