Peter Eramo Reviews: “Edge of Darkness” (** 1/2)
I didn’t know much about this film going in except for the fact that (a) this was Mel Gibson’s first starring role in eight years and (b) he was pissed off and not making any arrests. Good enough for me, so I checked it out. Gibson plays Boston homicide detective Thomas Craven who is a single father to [...]

Peter Eramo Web Rant #5: Bad Films Adapted From Crap TV
So I posted this “Pet Peeve List” of mine a couple of days ago — elements of a movie that will most likely keep me from ever seeing it. One that I should have added to this esteemed list was seeing shitty movies that are based on dreadful television shows. Have you taken a look at [...]

Peter Eramo’s Personal Pet Peeves
Now how’s that for alliteration…hmm??? I like to think that when it comes to movies, I’m a pretty open-minded kind of guy. I will go to see just about any movie (given my current mood) whether its genre is science fiction, horror, foreign, documentary, silly comedy – even certain musicals that look to be worth [...]

Princess Kaiulani / **1/2 (PG)
"Princess Kaiulani" (PG, 97 minutes). The story of a young woman who inherited the throne of the queen of Hawaii in the late 19th century, at a time when the monarchy had been overthrown by U.S. Marine-backed corporations, including Dole. The child of a Hawaiian mother and Scottish father, after her mother's death she was taken by her father to study in England, fell in love with a British boy, but left him to return to her nation. Well produced but creaky and needing more passion. Starring Q'orianka Kilcher (who played Pocahontas in the 2006 film "The New Land"). Two and a half stars

Mother and Child / ***1/2 (R)
"Mother and Child" (R, 126 minutes). The story of three women who desire children. Annette Bening thinks she doesn't, but envies the child of her maid. Kerry Washington wants to adopt. Naomi Watts thinks she prefers sex and power to commitment. Rodrigo Garcia's sensitive interlocking stories make no general comment about motherhood, but prefer to consider the specifics of these lives. With a surprisingly vulnerable performance by Samuel L. Jackson. Three and a half stars.

Fan Poll: What’s Your Favorite Superhero Movie?
“Iron Man 2” was released early this month and has not given up the top spot at the box-office just yet. A good action-packed superhero movie is almost a surefire box-office smash usually results in a sequel or two to follow. With the widely anticipated Green Hornet movie coming out later this year and others [...]
