I’ve noticed many enjoy releasing their year’s Top 10 lists usually at the beginning of December, often falling short of including many of the best contenders that are released in the last month. Not me.

I’ve carefully gone over my choices for Top 10 Movies of 2009 nine with a fine tooth comb, recalling all the films that I’ve seen for the year. So here it goes.

CinemaFunk’s Top 10 Films Of 2009

  1. Thirst

With all the hub-bub about Vampires this year, only one had the innovation and heart.

  2. It Might Get Loud

While I never cared much for The Edge, watching Jimmy Page and Jack White discuss their love of the guitar is truly an amazing moment.

  3. Fantastic Mr. Fox

Wes Anderson is back in top form with his wildly imaginative adaptation of this children’s classic.

  4. The Hangover

May be one of the most humorous films in the past twenty years. Excellent story, cast, performances, and cinematography.

  5. Drag Me To Hell

Like Anderson, Sam Raimi is in top form with this humorous and frightening horror/thriller.

  6. Inglourious Basterds

In my opinion, this may be Tarintino’s least self-absorbed film, and certainly his best.

  7. Avatar
  8. Up in the Air
  9. Up
  10. Brüno
