Cop Out

Looked Great On Paper, Not So Much on the Screen

Cop OutA Tired Buddy-Cop Flick with Lame Gags.

Kevin Smith's first major studio picture Cop Out teams Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan together for a typical buddy-cop flick with the traditional vulgar Smith quips.

Jimmy Monroe (Bruce Willis) and Paul Hodges (Tracy Morgan) slowly find themselves suspended for a month with their weapons and badges revoked. In order to pay for his daughter's wedding and not suffer from humiliation from his ex-wife and her husband, Jimmy chooses to sell a 1952 Andy Pafko baseball card worth tens of thousands of dollars, which essentially gets stolen.

Jimmy and Paul find themselves tracking a drug cartel whose leader, Poh Boy (Guillermo Díaz) apparently is as big of a baseball card fan and now is in possession of Jimmy's card. Jimmy and Paul must save the baseball card and the kidnappend Gabriela (Ana de la Reguera), all the while trying to redeem themselves in the eyes of their NYPD captain.
